In the fiftees, when some jung singers and dancers decided to create a group that gather all of them, calling it "Coral Folcloristic Group of Sappada". Simple and pure people united by the love for the ancient traditions bound to dance and song, attracted the attention of people from the village but also the turists. The costumes were the traditional ones and in the group delicate voices of the jung girls and those of the strong meen created a unique harmony. The teacher Gelindo Ferro lead the group and let it be known in all Veneto; unfortunately this jung people ended to describes the beauties of Sappada. In 1975 remembering this coral Group was born the Folcloristic Group HOLZHOCKAR (the woodcutters); the old costumes were find back and some friends, during the parade of "Giovedì Grasso" ( the carnival day) decided to present some dances of the old group. The exihibition obtained a sensational success, and this induce the friends to go on, learning new dances and the Plattlar, and to prepare new costumes; the biggest encouragement arrives from old dancers that see in this group the continuation of the ancient folklore. Some member of the new group went to Lienz (Austria) to learn new dances, and the experience of Toni Heidelbergher contributes and enrich the repertory of the group. So starts the long history of the Holzhockar Group, that after many satisfactions and sacrifices will by 30 years old in 2005!!!
